How Sexuality Affect Our Lives And Everyone Has Different...

Sexuality plays an important role in our lives and everyone has different views on sexuality because there are many factors that can influence it. I was born and raised in China, in a very traditional Asian family where sex is something that we would never discuss or even talk about at home. I not only did not have any open communication about sexuality with my parents, but also used to find myself in an embarrassed situation when I had to talk about it. As I grew up, I started learning most of the things related to this topic from somewhere else such as school and media. After I moved to the United States at the age of 14, my beliefs and attitudes toward sexuality have slowly changed. There are many factors that help shaped my perception of sexuality and become the sexual person I am today, such as parents, culture, media, peers, and personal experiences. The construction of gender identity came smoothly and naturally when I was still very small. It was mainly my parents taught me what it meant to be a boy in our society. Ever since I was a little boy, I was dressed up in colors that are more masculine and was taught about the roles that a boy should have. I started to learn that girls love pink color, have long hair and wear dresses while blue color is for boys and we have short hair and wear jeans. I became aware of my own gender identity since then.
